If you think you or someone you know would like to address substance misuse, there is a variety of support options available to both students and staff.
Internal:
- Report + Support: Students and staff can disclose how they have been affected by substance misuse using the University’s Report + Support system. You can choose to do this anonymously, request support from an advisor or make a referral for someone else. If you choose to talk to an advisor, they will be able to talk through the reporting options and support available to you, in confidence.
- Student Wellbeing Services: From confidential one-to-one counselling to motivational and self-development group workshops, the Student Wellbeing Service is here to help and support you.
- Spectrum.Life – our Student Assistance Programme: SAP is a confidential in the moment support service that provides support to university students. The SAP service is available 24/7, 365 days a year covering numerous topics such as: Stress, Anxiety, Low mood, Financial worries, Loss & Grief, Relationship problems, Substance abuse issues and much more. You can access through a confidential, freephone telephone line, an online chat function through the platform or by requesting a call back.
- Students' Union: The Greenwich Students' Union (GSU) is independent from the above support services within the university. If you wish to speak to an advisor about an issue related to hate incident/crime, please contact the GSU Advice Team.
External:
- Talk To FRANK: Provides facts, support and advice on drugs and alcohol. You can search for any drug, read news and articles, or contact them by phone (0300 1236600) or live chat.
- Greenwich- via: A free and confidential recovery-focused service. They offer treatment and support for Greenwich residents aged 18 or over affected by drug and alcohol problems, as well as their families and carers.
- Release – Legal Outreach Services: Provides legal support related to drug use or sex work, helping with housing, wellbeing, and access to treatment.
- Royal Greenwich Young Persons Substance Misuse Service: Free, confidential advice for young people up to 25 living in Greenwich, including harm reduction and substance information. Email: substancemisuseservice@royalgreenwich.gov.uk Tel: 020 8921 6907
- Adfam – Greenwich Support: Free one-to-one support for adults affected by someone else’s drug or alcohol use (family/friends), including counselling and peer support.
- Greenwich COMHAD Service: NHS service supporting people with both mental health and drug/alcohol issues, offering harm reduction and treatment. Self-referral or GP referral.
- RIVER: (Responsive, Inspirational, Visible, Empowering and Recovery-Oriented), is delivered alongside Open Road and helps people that have issues with drugs and/or alcohol and want to make a positive change to their life.
